Whilst oil paintings are often given the most attention as the end goal of artistic expression, I have a fondness for the particular qualities shared in drawings and sketches. Drawings are often the most immediate contact with the process of imagination. They may appear as simple marks, signs and figures instead of the full fleshed and polished narratives of a painting, but they are also often an essential part of the dynamic journey. In my drawings I find an intimate meeting point between the process of my imagination and that of the viewer, a world not yet fully formed and therefore full of movement and possibility. Drawings can be enjoyed for their own sake as well as for the narratives they will come to formulate.
