In 1985 I had my first one man show at the Basel Art Fair, an important step for any young artist. Everything sold except one small painting. At the last minute my agent, much relieved, told me that he had sold it finally but with a rather large discount.
Six months later we made posters of 15 of my paintings to launch in the American market. I insisted on one of those images being the little painting no one seemed to like at the Basel fair. The painting was Gargoyles. Welcome to the decade of 1985!
