Now everything seems to have come together. I began mixing the graphic art deco designs I had used in my stone lithographs with designs I had sketched for the sculptures. The hundreds of drawings I made to support the sculpture exhibitions had now evolved into paintings. When I think back to the vast other worldly deserts with sulphuric yellow skies I had painted very early on, and compare that to the rich variations of possibilities I have today, it has been quite a journey! From those early, empty, airless deserts, I slowly created a blue sky world with angels, deities, clowns, dancers and many others. I also explored a darker world filled with androids and more sinister figures. The flat patterned designs used in my stone lithographs evolved into complex paintings in gold and silver, mixed with floating figures and angels. Because I live by the sea, I often revisit the mermaids and try to tell their stories. Welcome to the decade of 2015.
